Existing PS Plus members have resorted to using a new “trick” to avail a discount in absence of official offers from Sony. As we previously reported, long-running members were left disappointed yet again when they were locked out of Days of Play 2025 PS Plus deals. Sony continues to target only new/returning members and those looking to upgrade to more expensive tiers.
How existing PS Plus members are obtaining a discount
Players have discovered that if they’ve purchased a 12-month membership and claim a refund within a 14-day period, they have a higher chance of getting their money back by contacting PlayStation Support and requesting a cancellation of the remainder of their subscription.
Once the membership is canceled and refunded from Sony’s end, players are considered new/returning subscribers, opening up the discount offer to them.
Quite a few players have reported that they successfully used this method to avail the Days of Play 2025 discount. However, some have said that memberships that were auto-renewed are being denied refunds.
We always recommend turning off auto-renew and timing the renewal of your subscription in such a way that it expires before discount periods like Black Friday and Days of Play. Unfortunately, the recent PSN outage compensation in form of five days of PS Plus have bumped quite a few members out of the Days of Play and Black Friday 2025 discount periods.
