iPhone 16e Hits Europe's Top 10, But Is Price Holding It Back?

It didn't take long for Apple's iPhone 16e, which launched at the end of February 2025, to jump onto Europe's best-selling smartphones list. In March, its first full month on the market, the 16e grabbed the ninth spot, according to new data from Counterpoint Research. The device made up 8% of Apple's total sales and 2% of all smartphones sold in Europe during that month. This showing in Europe comes after the 16e also put up solid numbers globally, landing at sixth place worldwide for March sales. The iPhone 16e performed even better in Western Europe, where it ranked seventh among best-sellers. However, its initial sales momentum in Europe overall didn't match that of its predecessors. According to Counterpoint, the iPhone 16e's March sales were down 17% compared to the iPhone SE 2022's first full month and 20% lower than the iPhone SE 2020's debut month. The previous SE models also captured a larger slice of Apple's own sales in their initial month, with the SE 2022 taking 12% and the SE 2020 claiming 19%, compared to the 16e's 8%. In terms of overall European bestseller rankings, the iPhone SE 2022 had previously reached sixth place, while the SE 2020 had climbed to third in their respective first months.Counterpoint Research's Associate Director Jan Stryjak explained the factors behind the 16e's performance: "The relatively high price of the iPhone 16e compared to previous iPhone SE devices has limited sales in Europe. At €699 ($599), the 16e is a significant jump from the €519 ($429) launch price of the iPhone SE 2022 and €479 ($399) for the iPhone SE 2020, which has reduced its appeal in this challenging economic climate. Also, some places are offering the iPhone 15 for the same price as the iPhone 16e, so many consumers are opting for arguably the better-specced, albeit nearly two-year-old, device. As such, the iPhone 15 also featured in Europe's top-10 list for April."Continue ReadingSpotlight Deal:M4 MacBook Air Hits New All-Time Low of $837.19 [Deal]Share Article:Facebook,  Twitter,  LinkedIn,  Reddit,  EmailFollow iClarified:Facebook,  Twitter,  LinkedIn,  Newsletter,  App Store,  YouTube
