PS Store Drops Very Limited-Time Free PS5 Demo for 2026 Game

PS Store surprise dropped a free demo for a 2026 PS5 game yesterday, with the caveat that it’s an alpha demo that’s available for a very limited time. At the June 2025 State of Play, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo showcased Nioh 3, which players can get their hands on if they’re quick enough.

Nioh 3 free PS Store demo is only available for two weeks

Nioh 3’s free demo is only available until June 18. The good news is that it’s not locked behind PS Plus — everyone can jump in and play within the next two weeks.

The demo features “a specially selected portion” of Nioh 3, and cannot be played offline (PS plus still not required). It’s a technical test of sorts, with Koei Tecmo noting that it’ll be conducting a player survey based on the demo. The team requested players to share their feedback.

Players who do complete the demo will be rewarded with an in-game helmet to use when Nioh 3 launches in 2026.

Koei Tecmo reminded players that this isn’t a trial, so don’t expect any trophies or progress to be saved. “In order to receive the demo completion bonus, you must play the final release version on the console where the demo version data is saved, and you must also use the same account when playing the demo version and the final release version,” the company added.
