Rumors about Resident Evil 9 have been swirling around the internet for quite a while now. The latest rumor claims the next entry in the beloved survival horror franchise is getting revealed this week.
When is the Resident Evil 9 reveal?
According to YouTube channel Screenfire Germany (h/t r/GamingLeaksAndRumours), the Resident Evil 9 reveal will happen during Summer Game Fest, on June 6. Specifically, this will include the first trailer for the game, and a release date in the first quarter of 2026.
“The following information is, of course, provided without guarantee, as I have no idea if anything will change here or what it even looks like, but… Oh, screw it,” reads the translation of the video. “We’ll see the first trailer for Resident Evil 9 at the Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025, with a targeted release in the first quarter of 2026. I suspect it will be at the end of March for the 30th anniversary, because Capcom mentioned in their investor report that they don’t expect any significant sales increase by then (Q1). That’s why it has to be around the end of March, and yes, it fits well with the anniversary of the series.”
If that was not enough, noted Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has corroborated these claims. On X, Dusk Golem says they are “95% positive” Resident Evil 9 will be revealed during the Summer Game Fest presentation.
“Again, not like I can give 100% confirmation, no one’s directly told me or the like,” reads the tweet. “But at this point I’m like 95% positive we’re on the verge of RE9 being revealed at SGF. This is the first time behind the scenes there’s a lot of buzz in the grapevine, lots of rumblings.”
Like most rumors, maybe take this one with a grain of salt. Summer Game Fest does seem like the perfect stage for a Resident Evil 9 reveal, but nothing official from Capcom has been announced. We’ll just have to wait and see when the showcase goes live on Friday, June 6, at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
