Samsung is allegedly looking to change the S Pen tech inside the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and that could point to a major new addition. A tipster, PandaFlashPro, said on X that Samsung has “new S-Pen tech” and that the company is “ready to use it in the Ultra”.

Samsung could ditch the S Pen digitizer tech to include something way cooler in the Galaxy S26 Ultra

The current S Pen tech that the company uses, the one in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, utilizes a digitizer. That has been the case for years. If the company removes the S Pen digitizer, that would leave more room inside for other modules.

What modules? Well, the tipster believes Samsung could be making room for Qi2 magnets. That would basically be the equivalent of MagSafe magnets that Apple is using in iPhones.

Samsung could include magnets directly in the phone, for full-fledged Qi2 support

That way, you would not need a case in order to take advantage of the magnetic properties and Qi2 charging. The Pixel 10 series, for example, is said to support Qi2, but only via a case. The same is the case with the Galaxy S25 series.

If the tipster is accurate, Samsung could make a major change, and add magnets directly into the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and probably its siblings too. It would be weird for only the ‘Ultra’ model to get those magnets.

No, this is not coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 7

In case you’re hoping the same will be the case with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, don’t get your hopes up. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have a digitizer, and the same tech, without the S Pen silo like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

A recent rumor even claimed that Samsung may ditch the S Pen silo altogether starting with the Galaxy S27 Ultra. We’re not sure if the S Pen support will remain, but the silo may be on the way out.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to arrive in Q1 next year, quite probably in January.
