With Apple having wrapped up its WWDC 2025 event, we’ve finally gotten an idea of what the Cupertino giant has in store for its hardware and software offerings, and this includes some pretty big changes, at least in terms of branding and visual design.

One big (and pretty obvious) change is Apple’s naming scheme for its different platforms. For one, the company is now ditching iOS 18/19, and will jump directly to iOS “26”, somewhat similar to what Samsung did with its transition from its “S10” to “S20” line of phones. This will also apply to all other Apple operating systems, including iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26.

It should be noted that not all iPhone users will receive iOS 26 on their devices—older handsets such as the X and XR for example will no longer be able to support the update, although if you’re using an iPhone 11, iPhone SE 2 or newer, then you’ll be able to experience Apple’s new visual overhaul on iOS.

More specifically, we’re referring to “Liquid Glass,” Apple’s new approach to visual design on its software platforms. Liquid Glass features newer transparency effects and dynamic resizing for on-screen elements such as switches, sliders and buttons, something that harkens back to the days of Windows Aero, nearly two decades ago. Liquid Glass will also make its way to other Apple product platforms including its tablets and computers.

As for Apple Intelligence, the company announced new enhancements to tools like Visual Search, Genmoji and Image Playground, as well as AI-based Live Translations during messages and FaceTime calls. Still no word on Siri’s struggles however, which is a shame given that the company initially touted major additions to its voice assistant.
