Android 16 Pixel update: Here’s every device getting it (and what’s actually new)
The Android 16 Pixel update is here with new builds for every Pixel—here’s the full list and a look at what’s actually changed. The post Android 16 Pixel update: Here’s every device getting it (and what’s actually new) appeared first on Phandroid.

If you’ve got a Pixel device, the Android 16 Pixel update just dropped and, for once, Google actually shipped it early. Not “Google-early” where you get the update and still nothing works right, but genuinely ahead of schedule compared to the last few years.
So, what’s actually new in the Android 16 Pixel update?
Let’s take a look at some of the new features and changes you can look forward to. The Android 16 Pixel update is less about the kind of wild new features that break your phone and more about subtle improvements you might actually notice.
-
Live updates for notifications: Now your food delivery or ride-share app can bug you with real-time info right on your lock screen. Finally, less reason to open apps every three minutes.
-
Cleaner notifications: If you’ve ever wanted your notifications grouped by app (and who hasn’t?), Google’s doing it for you. Less spam, more sanity.
-
Big hearing aid upgrades: If you use hearing devices, you can finally use your phone’s mic for clearer calls, especially when you’re somewhere loud. Plus, you get native volume controls right from your phone.
-
Security in one tap: Android 16 now lets you activate Advanced Protection, which is a fancy way of saying Google will throw every security trick it knows at protecting your phone.
-
Tablet productivity boost: Google and Samsung have teamed up to let you open and move multiple app windows on tablets and foldables, just like on a desktop. It’s coming later this year, but it’s a legit productivity jump. There’s even talk of custom keyboard shortcuts and a better taskbar system. However, not all of it is live yet.
Most of these features will roll out to other brands later. However, as usual, Pixel users get the goods first (at least, until someone finds a bug).
