How to download and install the June 2025 security updates
Non-managed Windows systems will download and install security updates automatically by default. While administrators may change the default setting, the vast number of systems will receive the updates automatically.
The installation does not happen in real-time though. Users may speed up the installation in the following way:
- Open the Start menu, type Windows Update, and select the result.
- Activate the "check for updates" button. This runs a manual check for updates.
- Activate the "download & install all" button, if the update is not downloaded automatically.
Note: We recommend that you create a system backup before you install any update for Windows. Bugs and issues may be introduced that Microsoft is not aware of at the time. A separate backup that does not rely on integrated recovery tools may restore the system when these tools fail.
