The other day, at WWDC 2025, Apple announced a slew of major OS updates for its product lineup: iOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, and iPadOS 26. The most notable and obvious change is Apple’s new Liquid Glass , and if you want to get the tiniest of tastes, here’s how you can download the new iPadOS 26 wallpapers right now.

For those unfamiliar, Liquid Glass is one of the biggest revamps Apple has made to its UI since iOS 7. When iOS first launched, it used a skeuomorphic design language, a design approach in which the digital UI is made to resemble physical objects.
For example, the Camera app icon was designed to look like an actual camera lens. The Notes app was also designed to look like a legal pad. However, Apple ditched skeuomorphism in iOS 7, giving the platform a more modern look. Now in the latest update, Apple is going with a futuristic design that resembles glass.
Apple has also introduced new wallpapers to reflect the new design language. These wallpapers are available on iOS 26, macOS 26, and iPadOS 26. You can check out a preview of them below, or download it in its full resolution if you want to use it.
In a way, Liquid Glass is reminiscent of Apple’s physical retail stores, many of which employ huge sheets of glass to create a modern, minimalist, and airy vibe. According to the rumors, the Liquid Glass design is supposed to act as a precursor to the 2027 iPhone. The 2027 iPhone marks the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, and the rumors claim it will be a mostly-glass design.
What’s new in this update?
In addition to the brand new design language, Apple has also improved iPadOS considerably. In the past, Apple’s iPads were essentially an oversized iPhone. However, over the years, Apple has made changes to give it better multitasking capabilities to closely resemble macOS.
With iPadOS 26, Apple has gone one step further. This includes changing the cursor design to an arrow. In the past, Apple used a circle, which was functional, but hardly ideal. The new cursor design is similar to the one you find on macOS and should allow for more precise clicking.
Apple also introduced a menu bar in iPadOS 26, and an all-new windowing system that makes it easier for users to drag and resize windows.
