Warner Bros. has announced that its WB Games division saw a massive 48% revenue decline in Q1 2025, thanks in no small part to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League‘s high-profile flop. Although the fall can be attributed to WB Games not releasing any new games in the quarter ended March 31, 2025, the division is still reeling from its multimillion dollar disaster.
WB Games acknowledges ‘some misses’ following Suicide Squad flop
“The games business, remember, last year was really impacted by some misses we had in that space,” said Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels, adding that WB Games has since “implemented a pretty significant restructuring” of the division.
Both Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 are contributing to WB Games revenue (via Games Industry), and the company separately noted the “big success” of Minecraft movie, but Suicide Squad’s $200 million loss certainly left a gaping hole in WB’s finances.
That said, Wiedenfels is hopeful when it comes to WB Games’ future following the aforementioned restructuring, stating that it should be “a growth driver over the longer term horizon here.”
A year after its release, Suicide Squad headlined PS Plus lineup, but it was too little too late to save the game.
