Nintendo Will Raise Most Switch Repair Part Costs in Japan
Nintendo Switch owners who are residing in Japan will soon have to prepare more funds if their consoles break down. Nintendo announced that it will raise the prices for a majority of repair parts for all existing Switch consoles starting on March 26, 2025. The company cited a steep rise in costs to procure the spare parts as the primary reason for the price hike. The full list of price changes is available on the Japanese Nintendo support website. It has also been archived, in case a future update to the webpage removes the old prices. All prices listed on the page are in Japanese yen. Following the complete discontinuation of Wii U repairs in July 2024, Nintendo is also gradually running out of spare parts for 3DS and 2DS handhelds as it no longer procures new stocks for those. Spare parts for the New 3DS completely ran out on October 2, 2024. That means outside of the Switch series, the only Nintendo consoles still available for repairs in Japan are the New 3DS LL/XL, 2DS, and New 2DS LL/XL.
