When setting up a new Android phone these days, most manufacturers often include an option for users to set up an account with whatever phone brand they’re using, which often comes with perks such as exclusive deals and software services. That in mind, if you own a Samsung account, then you might want to check your email inbox for an important notice from the company.

In a recent email sent to Samsung Account holders, the company states that accounts which have been inactive for a certain amount of time will be subject to deletion. Part of the email reads:
Samsung is implementing an inactive Samsung account policy to protect the data of users who have not used their account for an extended period of time. Once this policy is implemented, Samsung accounts that have not been logged in to or used for twenty-four (24) months will be considered inactive and will be subject to deletion.
The policy will be implemented starting on 31st July this year, and Samsung says that once an account is deleted, users will no longer be able to access the account, and all related data will be erased, without any chance for restoration. There are some exceptions though, as certain data might be kept “in accordance with local legal requirements and applicable legislation.”
