Google’s At A Glance feature for Pixel devices has genuinely been one of the most useful features to have, and it looks like Google is gearing up to make it even better through a feature called Gemini Space. According to Mishaal Rahman at Android Authority, Gemini Space appears to be a juiced-up version of At A Glance. This suggests it isn’t an addition to that feature but an entirely new version of it.

Details about Gemini Space were discovered initially as part of the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 release. In that version of the Android 16 software, references to Gemini Space were found in the form of system configuration files labeled ‘Ambient Data,’ and it was suggested that this is what Google was calling Gemini Space internally. Android Authority notes that Gemini Space could be compatible with Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series phones. If this turns out to be the case, then it won’t be one of the exclusive Pixel 10 features. And there will surely be some.

Gemini Space could be a re-branded At A Glance feature with additional functions

There is little detail about what Gemini Space actually is. However, signs look to be pointing to the possibility that Google may rebrand At A Glance as Gemini Space. Under its new name, the feature would potentially provide user with more information and details about their day. This wouldn’t be too dissimilar to what Samsung has done with the Now Bar and Now Brief features. Rahman is quick to point out, though, that Gemini Space may not be like either of those two elements of Samsung’s devices. Even if it does seem like it could be.

As for what Gemini Space might add to the function list that At A Glance doesn’t already do, there are two new things it could track, based on labels found in the code. These two new pieces of information would be sports scores and a finance recap. Not much else is known outside of these two things. It’s still unclear what Google’s official plans are for Gemini Space in the long run. Perhaps the company will share more at its upcoming launch event.
