Samsung has just announced its long-awaited mobile processor, the Exynos 2500. This chip is made on Samsung’s 3nm GAA process node, and it’s the first chip from the company of that variety.

The Samsung Exynos 2500 is official with 10 cores, AMD graphics & more

The Samsung Exynos 2500 has a 10-core CPU and a fourth-generation Xclipse 950 GPU. That GPU is based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, in case you were wondering.

Let’s talk more about its cores. It utilizes one Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.3GHz. Two Cortex-A725 cores are in use and are running at 2.74GHz. The chip also has five Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

Samsung claims that the chip offers 15% faster multi-core CPU performance and a 39% faster NPU. On top of that, 28% faster frame rate for raytracing games has been quoted.

It supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage

The Exynos 2500 supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The ISP that Samsung opted for supports cameras of up to 320MP, and 8K 30 fps video recording. It also supports zero shutter lag for a 108MP camera sensor or a 64MP+32MP dual-camera setup. 4K 120 FPS and 8K 30 FPS recording is supported too, with 10-bit HDR.

This processor also uses fan-out wafer-level packaging (FOWLP) in order to offer improved power efficiency. The chip’s GPU and DSP can drive a 4K/WQUXGA resolution screen at 120Hz, by the way.

The Exynos 5400 5G modem is on board

The Exynos 5400 5G modem is built onto the chip, and it supports up to 12.1 Gbps download speeds. Direct satellite connectivity via low-earth orbit satellites for emergency calling and texting is also supported.

It’s also worth noting that Bluetooth 5.4 is supported by the chip, as is Wi-Fi 7. The Exynos 2500 also features GNSS, NFC, and USB 3.2 Type-C support.

There’s a really good chance that this chip will debut inside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 next month. That is almost certainly the first phone that will use it.
