PS5, PS4 Players Can Play GTA Online Without PS Plus

Grand Theft Auto 5‘s online component, which has since been turned into a standalone game, is still being played by tons of players over a decade after its original release. The latest GTA Online update, Money Fronts, was recently released, and it currently does not require PlayStation Plus to play.

GTA Online does not require PS Plus for a limited time

As pointed out on the game’s subreddit (via Rockstar Intel), PS Plus is not currently required to play GTA Online. Other players in the thread point out that when a new major update releases, like Money Fronts, Rockstar makes the game available to play without a membership to the online service for two weeks. That would mean this limited-time event ends on July 1.

It should be noted that GTA Online itself is not free to play. Players will need to either own GTA 5 or GTA Online. Considering GTA 5 has sold millions of copies, there is a good chance most players can take advantage of this limited-time offer. For players who don’t actually own either game, GTA 5 for PS4 and PS5 can currently be purchased on the PS Store for $19.79. For players who just want GTA Online, it is currently $9.99.

As mentioned before, Money Fronts is the newest update for GTA Online. It brings tons of new content to the popular online game.

Players can enjoy their time with GTA Online on PS4 and PS5 while they wait for GTA 6, which is slated to launch on May 26, 2026.
