Samsung is offering gamers a free trial to Xbox Game Pass, and this is an offer that I would highly recommend that everyone take advantage of if they can. Xbox Game Pass is still one of the best values in gaming because of everything it gives you access to. New games on launch day are one of the best features.

If you’re subscribed to the Ultimate plan, you also get cloud gaming access. This allows you to play games through the cloud on any device that has the Game Pass app available. Which, by the way, is most platforms these days. The offer, which Samsung has just announced today in partnership with EA and Xbox, comes with two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Normally, you get one month with an offer like this. So, you’re getting a little extra here. Unfortunately, this promotion overlooks a key group of customers.

The Xbox Game Pass trial from Samsung only applies to new subscribers

It’s not surprising that this promotional offer is only available to new subscribers, as this has become the way of things. For example, I picked up the TCL QM6K recently, and it came with a free trial to YouTube Premium. Only for new subscribers, though. Which meant I was locked out because I had subscribed before.

The same goes for Samsung’s Xbox Game Pass trial offer. If you’ve subscribed to the service before, or you have an active subscription, you can’t claim this offer. It’s a bummer, because active accounts are likely to have continued subscribing after the trial was over. And this could have been a good way to potentially bring back those who cancelled. While this is a letdown for existing subscribers and past subscribers, this isn’t necessarily Samsung’s decision.

New and existing Samsung TV and monitor customers are eligible

If you’re new to Xbox Game Pass, then here’s how you can claim this offer and try it out for free for 60 days. Normally, it would cost you $19.99 a month. First, you’ll need to have a compatible Samsung TV or monitor. This counts for existing TV and monitor owners and new customers. Samsung says compatible smart TVs and monitors include anything from its 2022 lineup or later.

In addition to owning a compatible smart TV or monitor, you’ll need to have your Samsung account hooked up and download the Samsung Promotions app. This app is where you can claim the offer. You need to claim it before August 12 of this year, and once you claim it, you need to redeem the trial at the Xbox Game Pass website by August 19. So, you have limited time.
