A large number of PS5 players have found that their premium PS3 content suddenly became inaccessible on the console and PS App. Back in the day, Sony used to sell PSN avatars on the PS Store, and we have some fond memories of purchasing avatars ourselves that we carried over to modern consoles. The PS3 avatars now seem to have disappeared.
Some PS5 players currently have no way access the PS3 avatars that they purchased
Over the weekend, I saw a number of threads pop up on various PlayStation gaming subreddits, where players reported that all the avatars that they had purchased on the PS3 had disappeared from their PS5 consoles as well as the PS App.
This seems to be a recent occurrence as up until recently, those avatars did appear and could still be used when players updated their PSN profiles via their PS5 consoles or PS App. As previously mentioned, avatars carried across console generations.
A small number of players say that they can stil see the few PS3 avatars that they purchased back in the day, which leads me to believe that this may be a temporary glitch.
Those who still have access to a PS3 have confirmed that the avatars appear when using the older console, but those who only have the PS5 seem to be out of luck.
Since this is purchased content, we hope Sony restores the avatars soon. We’ll try to reach out to the company and keep our readers posted.
