The design of the Logitech MX Master 3 has led to arguably one of Logitech’s most popular mice ever, and Logitech could continue this trend with its latest version of the mouse, the MX Master 4. While Logitech G focuses on PC gaming for the brand, mice like the MX Master 4 are intended for the everyday user. The MX Master line is perfect for students and working professionals. Or just anyone who wants a more ergonomic mouse. Overall, the Logitech MX Master 4 doesn’t deviate from the design of the current model. However, Logitech has made a few tweaks that are likely to be in pursuit of improvement. It’s tough to say whether or not these tweaks will resonate with users once they get a chance to try out the mouse, but they look like genuinely useful adjustments that Logitech made with purpose.

The design of the Logitech MX Master 4 is shown in a few images that were published by the European Union Intellectual Property Office. These images were spotted by Notebookcheck and Guru3D.

The Logitech MX Master 4 design includes a new thumb rest and wider left and right click buttons

The two biggest visual changes for Logitech’s new MX Master mouse are the left and right click buttons and the thumb rest. Starting with the left and right click, the buttons are now wider and span the width of the mouse. On the current model, the buttons are slightly more narrow, and there’s a small piece of plastic that runs along the edge of the right click button.

As for the thumb rest, it looks like the same size overall when it comes to the general area. The difference comes from the grip material used. It looks like it could be made from a different material than what’s used on the MX Master 3. The grip is now sectioned off as opposed to wrapping around the whole backside of the mouse as well.

Additionally, there’s now a third button on the side, whereas the current model only has two. This refers to the two small black buttons that sit just above the thumb rest. Not the horizontal scroll buttons.

The thumb rest appears to have a button on it, but its function is unknown

Another change in the new version of this mouse is the appearance of what seems like it could be an additional button, this time on the thumb rest. The button in question is a small circular collection of dots just in the left corner of the thumb rest. It’s unclear if this is actually a button or something else entirely. It’s also unclear if this serves any function at all. That being said, it seems unlikely that Logitech would put it there for aesthetic purposes only.

A less mysterious change is the movement of the LED indicator light. On the MX Master 3, it was on the left side of the mouse next to the side scroll. It now sits on the top just behind the button that’s used for changing the DPI. There are no specs listed with the images. Nor is there any detail about its cost or potential launch date. There are likely to be some other changes to the technology. For instance, Logitech may have improved the battery life. It’s also possible that this new mouse has a higher DPI and improved switches. It should also be compatible with both Windows and Apple’s macOS platforms.
