Android 16 stable release coming later today

The wait is almost over—Android 16 stable release is officially dropping on June 10 for Pixel phones. After more than six months of beta testing, Google finally confirmed the date in a post on X. It’s rare for Google to set release dates in advance, but this time, they made it clear: June 10 is the day.

Android 16 stable release will roll out alongside the June 2025 Feature Drop. That means you’ll get new features even if you’re not using a Pixel. Pixel Watch owners are in luck, too—Google’s quarterly update is bringing more features and improvements to the lineup.

A heads-up if you’re on the Android 16 QPR1 Beta: you won’t get the stable Android 16 OTA. Only devices running Android 15 stable or the mainline Android 16 beta will receive the update. If you’re stuck on the QPR1 beta, you’ll need to leave the beta program and downgrade to stable. But doing this wipes all your data, so make sure to back up anything important before making the switch.

Android 16 also beefs up security with a new Advanced Protection mode and puts all security settings into one easy-to-find menu. New features like Intrusion Logging and Inactivity Reboot are in the pipeline, but you’ll have to wait until later in the year for those.

So, the Android 16 stable release is finally here. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting for the update to land on your phone or making sure you’re on the right beta channel to get it.
