Abzu Dev's New Game Sword of the Sea Is Finally Out This August
Giant Squid, the developer behind Abzu and The Pathless, finally showed off Sword of the Sea again with a stunning new trailer during the June 4 State of Play.The trailer highlighted its thrilling gameplay, which combines the artistic atmosphere of Journey with the gameplay of a skating game as players ride around nature on their aptly named Hoversword. The world of Sword of the Sea is intentionally designed to be very wavy, so players will have lots of opportunities to build the speed and momentum required to pull off a lot of different tricks. Giant Squid, whose founder actually worked on Journey itself, first teased Sword of the Sea back at a PlayStation Showcase in May 2023. We hadn't seen much of the game since then, but it finally reemerged with this short new trailer at the State of Play.
