Xiaomi AI Glasses feat

Xiaomi has expanded its range of artificial intelligence-powered devices with the introduction of the Xiaomi AI Glasses. Xiaomi announced the new product at a major launch event in China, alongside a range of other devices, including the MIX Flip 2, a clamshell-style foldable, and the Pad 7S Pro tablet. The company has equipped its latest AI wearable with a camera and its in-house Vela OS.

Xiaomi’s AI Glasses go official to challenge Meta’s Ray-Ban AI Glasses

The Xiaomi AI Glasses are the Chinese company’s answer to Meta’s Ray-Ban AI Glasses. Like Meta’s smart glasses, Xiaomi’s offering doesn’t feature displays of any kind, instead relying on users’ voice and touch inputs to communicate with the onboard Hyper XiaoAI voice assistant. Xiaomi’s AI assistant supports various functionalities, such as live object recognition, text translation, calorie info, and voice-based prompts.

Xiaomi has powered the AI Glasses wearable with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1+ low-power chip, which offers intelligent performance and battery efficiency. There’s a dual-core architecture onboard the device. It means the Snapdragon AR1 processor handles high-load AI tasks, while a low-power chip handles daily functions like music playback. The device has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage.

A high-res 12MP Sony camera and up to 8 hours of battery life are in the mix

A 12-megapixel Sony IMX681 camera is present on Xiaomi’s AI glasses, which can capture photos with 4,032 x 3,024 pixels resolution and 2K videos at 30fps. The wearable integrates with the company’s HyperOS ecosystem, which allows users to switch cameras with paired smartphones for live streaming and voice calls from a first-person point of view. It also comes with dual symmetrical speakers, a five-microphone array, including a bone-conduction mic.

The wearable offers a Meeting Assistant with transcriptions and live translation in 10 languages. With the Xiaomi Glasses smartphone app, users can manage captured photos, videos, translations, and more in one place. A 263mAh silicon-carbon high-density battery fuels the phone, which, as per the brand, can deliver up to 8.6 hours of regular use. Lastly, the wearable supports charging via a USB Type-C port without the need for a dedicated charging case.

A durable, yet lightweight frame and an affordable price tag

Xiaomi has designed the new wearable for daily use, as the AI glasses come with a stylish frame, advanced camera, audio, and AI features. Xiaomi’s AI Glasses tip the scale at just 40 grams and come with a classic D-shaped frame made from TR90 nylon.

Furthermore, the frame has aerospace-grade titanium alloy hinges, which the company has tested for 18,000 open-close cycles. Additionally, the device boasts an IP54 rating, making it impervious to sweat and water splashes.

Xiaomi is offering the AI Glasses accessory in three variants: Standard Edition, Single-Color Electrochromic Edition, and Multi-Color Electrochromic Edition. The brand has priced the base edition at 1,999 Yuan (around $280). The Single-Color Electrochromic and Multi-Color Electrochromic editions will set consumers back by 2,699 Yuan (~$375) and 2,999 Yuan ($420), respectively.

Xiaomi has already started selling the AI Glasses on its website and other partner channels. However, there’s no word regarding the global availability at the moment.
