OnePlus announced ‘OnePlus AI’, its new brand name for its AI features. As part of the announcement, the company shared its vision for personalized AI with Plus Key and Plus Mind, which we’ll talk about shortly.

The company said that the Plus Key is a hardware customization that will debut on the OnePlus 13s on June 5. That phone will, unfortunately, be launched in India only, at least for now. OnePlus specifically mentioned ‘available in India only’, which doesn’t give us much hope for its launch elsewhere.

The company said that the Plus Key, along with a new OnePlus AI brand and new AI features “is designed to enhance productivity, creativity, and security.”

The company’s director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy, Arthur Lam, said the following: “The foundation of OnePlus AI is built upon a deep understanding of its users, and they’ve told us they want AI to help them work smart, play hard and be their authentic selves,” while he also added “That’s why our mission for OnePlus AI is to help our users go All In On Life, creating personalized AI solutions based around our user’s unique wants and needs.”

The ‘Plus Key’ is basically the company’s new customizable button

Alright, let’s talk more about the Plus Key. That is a new hardware button on the OnePlus 13s which is customizable. OnePlus says it will be coming to all new OnePlus smartphones launching this year.

The Plus Key is considered to be an evolution of the beloved Alert Slider. You can customize the Plus Key to do various actions. That includes switching sound profiles, launching the camera, initiating translation, or starting recordings. These are just some examples.

That key also activates the AI Plus Mind. That’s a new feature that is designed to quickly save, catalog, and recall key information found on the screen.

OnePlus says that when users find information they want ot retain, such as scheduled, event details, and so on, they can capture it by pressing the Plus Key or swiping up with three fingers. OnePlus’ AI Plus Mind will intelligently save the relevant on-screen content to a dedicated Mind Space.

AI Plus Mind leverages AI to “analyze content contextually”

AI Plus Mind also leverages AI to “analyze content contextually.” For example, it can extract schedule details from an image or text and add them directly oy the user’s calendar. AI Search, which is integrated with AI Plus Mind, supports natural language queries for easy retrieval of saved content.

AI Plus Mind is coming not only to the OnePlus 13s and future devices, but to the rest of the OnePlus 13 series via future software updates. OnePlus says that wider rollout plans for other devices are going to follow as well.

The company also mentioned that it’s actively developing a suite of tools leveraging OnePlus AI. That includes AI VoiceScribe (coming to India only), AI Call Assistant (coming to India only), AI Translation, AI Search, AI Reframe, and AI Best Face 2.0.

Deeper integration with Google Gemini is coming… soon

The company also announced that a deeper integration with Google Gemini is coming soon, and will work across OxygenOS apps.
