Sony is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its online service, PlayStation Plus. One way the company is recognizing the momentous occasion is by running a free multiplayer weekend for all PS4 and PS5 players. It begins tomorrow, and players do not need a membership to partake in this weekend’s festivities.
When does the free PS Plus multiplayer weekend begin?
As noted in a recently posted PS Blog post, the PS Plus Online Multiplayer Weekend will be held between June 28 at 12:01 a.m. and June 29 at 11:59 p.m. local time. PS4 and PS5 players can join any online multiplayer match without a PS Plus membership during the brief period.
This perfectly coincides with another event Sony is holding to celebrate the 15th anniversary of PS Plus. The company is hosting an online tournament for some of the most popular games on PS4 and PS5 beginning on June 28. This includes EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, UFC, Madden NFL, College Football, Tekken 8, and more. Players can win several different prizes, including in-game virtual currency, an exclusive PSN avatar, and Sony Pictures Core Movie Credits. As online memberships won’t be required this weekend, anyone can enter these tournaments.
This month, every PS Plus member received one of the games being featured during the tournament. As part of June 2025’s Monthly Games perk, NBA 2K25 was one of four games offered for free. Members have until July 1 at 12 p.m. ET to redeem the offer.
Although the free PS Plus games for July 2025 can’t be claimed until July 1, there are two great multiplayer games that people should not ignore. Those two games are Diablo IV and The King of Fighters XV.
