Galaxy Z Flip 7 chipset details leak ahead of launch—Snapdragon 8 Elite or Exynos 2500?

Galaxy Z Flip 7 chipset details are swirling as Samsung’s next set of foldables nears its rumored July launch. If the latest leaks are right, Samsung is splitting its chips once again. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 could use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite in the US, Canada, and possibly other select regions, while the Exynos 2500 might power devices sold in South Korea.

This isn’t the first time Samsung has mixed things up with processors, but it always sparks debate. Users have pointed out performance differences between Exynos and Snapdragon versions in past flagships, and those rumors aren’t letting up for the Z Flip 7. The Korean media outlet Hankyung claims Samsung made big gains in Exynos 2500 yields this year after a string of early production headaches, but it looks like the Snapdragon 8 Elite will still get the nod for North America and other key markets.

The rest of the world? That’s still unclear, but it wouldn’t be a shock if Samsung repeats its usual region-by-region split. For now, it sounds like Korean buyers are getting Exynos, while most global users will see the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Beyond the Galaxy Z Flip 7 chipset news, a few other details have leaked. Animation files from One UI 8 firmware suggest the new Flip will finally ditch the folder-style cover screen for a modern edge-to-edge look—something fans have been asking for since Motorola’s Razr models. One UI 8, based on Android 16, is also expected to make its debut alongside the new foldables at Samsung’s Unpacked event in early July.

It’s not official until Samsung says so, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 chipset debate seems to be heating up as launch day approaches. Either way, expect more rumors—and maybe a few surprises—before July.
