Apple is rumored to be adding a direct iPhone eSIM transfer to Android feature in the next major iOS update.
Until now, moving your eSIM from iPhone to Android usually meant a call to your carrier. You’d have to get a new QR code or go through an activation process that’s more confusing than it should be. But with iOS 19, new strings discovered by Android Authority in Google’s SIM Manager app point to a “Transfer to Android” option right in your iPhone’s settings. The process? Scan a QR code, or use a session ID and passcode generated by the iPhone, and your eSIM could jump to your Android device without ever talking to customer service.
iPhone eSIM transfer to Android is a feature users have been asking about for years. Carriers probably pushed for it, too. Especially since it cuts out unnecessary friction every time someone wants to change platforms. If you’re nervous about wireless transfers not working, the backup QR code method still looks like it’ll be there.
There’s no official word from Apple yet. But with WWDC just around the corner, this could be announced soon. If it happens, it’ll be one of the best quality-of-life upgrades for anyone thinking about leaving iOS for Android. And honestly, it’s about time. iPhone eSIM transfer to Android could finally be as easy as it should have been all along.
