Building Jolyo: a unified platform for managing and growing game development projects
Hi Dev.to, I'm Dylan Clément, a full-stack developer and designer. Over the last few months I’ve been working on something called Jolyo, a web platform built specifically for indie game developers who are tired of juggling a million tools. Like many in the game dev scene, I found myself constantly switching between Trello for tasks, Notion for docs, Google Drive for assets, Discord for team chat, and itch.io for visibility. It worked, sort of. But it was messy and inefficient. So I started building Jolyo, a platform that brings all these essentials together in one place, with game creators in mind. What is Jolyo? Jolyo is a web-based workspace for managing game development projects. It centralizes everything: tasks, documentation, team collaboration, and community sharing. Instead of jumping between disconnected apps, you stay in one focused environment built from the ground up for game development workflows. What's already live (as of v0.7 Alpha) Jolyo is still in active development, but here’s what’s already available: Project management: Task boards with filters, custom statuses, and timeline views Public user profiles: XP, ranks, and unlockable titles Messaging system: Text and voice chat (ephemeral by default unless saved) Discover section: Explore and follow public projects from other developers Workspace area: Private collaboration space for your team Built-in editors: For design documents, storyboards, and internal team notes Internal currency: “Jol”, earned by engaging with the platform The Stack I'm building Jolyo solo, with occasional design feedback and UI help. Here’s what powers it: Frontend: React (TypeScript), Tailwind CSS Backend: Express.js with Node.js Database: PostgreSQL Vision for the Future Jolyo isn’t just another productivity tool. It’s designed to evolve into a complete ecosystem where you can build, manage, publish, and monetize your games. A marketplace for games and digital assets is currently in development. Community features like dev logs, comments, and public updates are also planned. For now, it’s completely free during the alpha stage. Feedback from early users plays a direct role in shaping its direction. Try it and share your feedback I’d love for more developers to give Jolyo a try and share honest feedback on what works and what doesn’t.

Hi Dev.to,
I'm Dylan Clément, a full-stack developer and designer.
What's already live (as of v0.7 Alpha)
Jolyo is still in active development, but here’s what’s already available:
- Project management: Task boards with filters, custom statuses, and timeline views
- Public user profiles: XP, ranks, and unlockable titles
- Messaging system: Text and voice chat (ephemeral by default unless saved)
- Discover section: Explore and follow public projects from other developers
- Workspace area: Private collaboration space for your team
- Built-in editors: For design documents, storyboards, and internal team notes
- Internal currency: “Jol”, earned by engaging with the platform
The Stack
I'm building Jolyo solo, with occasional design feedback and UI help.
Here’s what powers it:
- Frontend: React (TypeScript), Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Express.js with Node.js
- Database: PostgreSQL
Vision for the Future
Jolyo isn’t just another productivity tool.
Try it and share your feedback
I’d love for more developers to give Jolyo a try and share honest feedback on what works and what doesn’t.
