Google has been frequently pushing new updates to NotebookLM, its Gemini-powered notebook and research tool. Last month, the company even launched a dedicated Android app for the AI-powered tool. Now, Google is rolling out yet another update to NotebookLM that allows sharing notebooks publicly.
NotebookLM now allows sharing your notebooks with everyone using public links
If you ever wanted to share your notebooks with your classmates, coworkers, students, and friends, you can do it now from the NotebookLM. That’s possible using a public link. In an announcement post, Google noted, “Today, we’re making sharing and curation easier — with public links.” The company further added that the shared materials can be “an overview of your nonprofit’s projects, product manuals for your business, or study guides for your class.”
For those wondering how NotebookLM’s notebook share feature works, the process is similar to how you share something in Google Docs. You can click on the Share button at the top right, and edit the access to “Anyone with a link.” You can click the “Copy link” button and then paste the notebook link into a text, email, or even social media platform, making sure anyone with the link can view it.
It’s worth noting that viewers can’t edit the content of your NotebookLM’s notebook that you share using the public link. However, they can always ask the AI tool to ask questions about the notebook content. If required, viewers can also interact with AI-generated content like audio overviews, briefings, and FAQs.
You can also give edit access to an individual user
Besides sharing a notebook publicly, you can also give access to someone to edit it right from NotebookLM. You can simply share notebooks with others by entering an email address. Not to forget, you can also share audio overviews from within the Gemini app.
