Summary: The Vivo X200 Ultra will offer a 200MP super telephoto external lens co-engineered with ZEISS. You will need a Photography Kit in order to take advantage of it, but it will offer an 8.7x optical zoom.

It was recently announced that Vivo will launch a Photography Kit for the upcoming Vivo X200 Ultra flagship. As part of that announcement, the company’s exec teased a secret feature which will be announced later on.

The Vivo X200 Ultra will offer a 200MP external lens co-engineered with ZEISS

Well, we didn’t have to wait long, as the special feature has been revealed, and it’s exactly what we thought, an external lens. Vivo Product Manager, Hax Boxiao, confirmed that lens, while it was reshared by Vivo’s social media channels.

We’re looking at a 200-megapixel F2.3 lens co-engineered with ZEISS, which will offer a 8.7x optical zoom. It’s a super telephoto lens, basically, and it uses 13 high-transmittance glass lenses in 3 groups of Kepler structure.

This lens will expand the telephoto of the Vivo X200 Ultra by 2.35x, and bring a 200mm pure optical effect to the phone. It is also worth noting that the secondary RMSC point 800mm (35x) is also highly usable, and 1,600mm (70x) is equivalent to the original 30x effect.

Needless to say, this will boost the phone’s photography capabilities quite a bit. You will need the Photography Kit, which is sold separately, in order to take advantage of this. For some, it will be worth it. That photography kit will also include a video button.

The Vivo X200 Ultra will become official on April 21, along with a bunch of other Vivo products. The launch event will take place in China, and chances are this phone will remain exclusive to China.
