The Google Pixel 10 could come with a smarter tele-macro camera
The Pixel 10 will use its telephoto lens for macro shots, and why the Pixel 10 tele-macro setup is better than the usual ultrawide approach. The post The Google Pixel 10 could come with a smarter tele-macro camera appeared first on Phandroid.

The Pixel 10 tele-macro feature is one of those subtle upgrades that actually makes a difference. According to a report from Android Headlines, instead of relying only on the ultrawide sensor for macro shots, the Pixel 10 will use its telephoto lens, depending on how far you are from your subject.
This isn’t entirely new. Samsung used tele-macro once with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, then dropped it. But the trend is making a comeback. OPPO’s Find N5 does it. OnePlus 13 does too, albeit quietly. And now it’s Google’s turn.
It’s a smart move. Telephoto lenses are typically sharper than ultrawide ones, so macro photos should look better. They also let you shoot from farther away, which is perfect for capturing things like insects without blocking light or getting too close. Macro photography needs good lighting, and this helps.
Importantly, Google isn’t removing ultrawide macro. The Pixel 10 will switch between lenses based on distance, giving you the best option without needing to think about it.
Google is rumored to announce the Pixel 10 series on August 20, with all models expected to ship on August 28. We can expect color options such as Ultra Blue, Limoncello, Iris, and Midnight. The Pro and Pro XL get Sterling Gray, Light Porcelain, Midnight, and Smoky Green. The foldable Pro version keeps it simple with Sterling Gray and Smoky Green only.
