Redmagic officially launches its smaller gaming tablet in China
Redmagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro

At the beginning of this month, a new Redmagic gaming tablet called the Tablet 3 Pro was teased by the company, and today it has officially launched in China. This will be Redmagic’s second gaming tablet, but its first in a smaller form factor. It comes with a 9.06-inch display, making it possible to pocket it if you have bigger pockets. At least that’s how Redmagic is positioning its smaller size. Realistically, you’ll probably still need to toss it in a bag, as most pant pockets and jacket pockets aren’t going to be large enough to fit a 9-inch tablet. Initially, it was believed that the display would be around 8 inches.

However, that’s really neither here nor there, because it’s smaller than the company’s Nova tablet, and it should be a lot more comfortable to hold for longer gaming sessions. Similar to the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3, the Redmagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro will be more lightweight, so there should be less fatigue.

The Redmagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro will launch globally later this year

As is typically the case with Redmagic’s devices, this new tablet will be launching globally, but it won’t be under the same name. It will, however, have the same features as far as we can tell. When the tablet launches globally, which should include the US and other parts of North America, it’ll be called the Redmagic Astra Gaming Tablet. There’s no official launch date yet, but the company does mention when it plans to officially announce the tablet in full. That date will be July 1, so consumers are looking at a couple more weeks.

That being the case, there’s still no word yet on an actual price for the tablet in the US. That information will likely be shared on July 1 when Redmagic gives its full announcement on the global release.

Powerful enough to handle any mobile games you throw at it

When Redmagic teased the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro last week, it didn’t mention any of the specs. Today, it’s laying everything out on the table. This includes the confirmation of a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, as well as a 144Hz display for a fast refresh rate. It also has an absolutely massive 8,200mAh battery inside with support for 80W charging. Translation: you’ll be gaming for hours, and you can juice the tablet back up fast.

Although Redmagic hasn’t confirmed US pricing for the tablet, it has confirmed pricing for China. The tablet starts at ¥3,999 for the model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. It goes up to ¥4,699 for the model with 512GB and 16GB, or ¥5,999 for the 1TB and 24GB. Based on the current exchange rate, the base model would go for about $555. So, we could see it launch for around $550 to $600.
