Netflix Top 10: The most-watched series in the world right now

The most popular Netflix title dominating the platform this week is The Four Seasons -- Tina Fey’s new warmhearted comedy that follows three couples comprised of longtime friends as they prepare to head out for a relaxing weekend away. You can sort of think about this one like a feel-good alternative to The White Lotus, and if the story sounds familiar it's because the show was actually inspired by the 1981 Alda film with the same name (which Fey has reportedly loved since she was a young girl).

The Four Seasons -- #1 on Netflix

The current top-ranked Netflix title globally by viewership, The Four Seasons is a #1 show in 37 countries this week. “Tracey, Lang, and I have talked about the show being a love letter to long-term relationships, both platonic and romantic,” Fey said, referring to co-creators Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, “because your life is ideally more than just the person you’re married to.

"Sometimes when you are struggling with something with just your spouse, you need a group of friends to bring humor to it. Those friendships really help marriages, I think. Having a person who just fulfills a part of you that your spouse can’t quite [fulfill] is very important.”

While The Four Seasons delivers plenty of laughs and vacation mishaps, it also digs into the quiet complexities of long-term relationships — both romantic and platonic. As Wigfield and Fisher have noted in Netflix interviews, the show reminds us not to take those bonds for granted, because sometimes your oldest friends know your story better than anyone else. And that kind of love deserves just as much care. “In addition to having a spouse whom you love, you also need this group of old friends who can tell the story of your life and where you’ve been," adds Fey.
