In August last year, Google launched the Google TV Streamer, the first streamer device based on Android 14 for TV. Following the launch, the company pushed a small 36MB update to the device, followed up by a considerably larger 329MB update in January earlier this year. Well, Google has reportedly rolled out a new update for its TV Streamer device.

Google rolls out yet another update for its TV Streamer device

Earlier today, folks over at 9to5Google reported that the latest update for the Google TV Streamer bumps the firmware version to UTTK.250305.003 (from UTTK.241210.003). The new firmware update also includes a security patch level from January 2025 to April 2024.

Notably, the latest update for the Google TV streamer weighs just 187MB. Considering the January update, this one is quite small. It’s worth noting that the latest update doesn’t bring any new features. However, the changelog says that the update includes “other bug fixes and performance improvements.”

Although the company didn’t specify which bugs, a Reddit user details them in the comments section of a Reddit post. According to a Reddit user @latinriky78, the latest update to Google TV Streamer has fixed two major bugs.

The update fixes bugs related to HDMI-CEC and Dolby Vision/HDR10+ videos

The first bug with HDMI-CEC. This bug apparently reduced the volume of the device to zero when a user rebooted the device while the TV was powered off or disconnected from the power outlet. The new update has also fixed the black screen issue when playing hybrid Dolby Vision/HDR10+ videos.

As more users install the latest update, more details are likely to follow soon. Not to forget, Google clarified confusions regarding codec support with the last update. The company then noted that the TV box doesn’t support Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X audio, DTS-HD, and DTS-HD MA.
