Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Review AM AH 1 1

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are now getting one of their final software updates. No, we’re not talking about Android 15-based One UI 7 here, not at all. In fact, neither of these devices are eligible for One UI updates since 2023.

The Galaxy Note 20 series is getting one of its last updates, but it’s not One UI 7

They are both, however, getting the April 2025 security patch. Samsung promised two extra years of security updates for both devices, and that’s why they’re getting these updates. As a reminder, both of these phones launched back in August 2020.

In any case, the April 2025 security patch is now rolling out to both devices. The rollout started in Europe, Asia, and India, but it should be coming to more markets as we speak. So, chances are you’ll get this update soon, regardless of where you are.

The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are getting build numbers ending in HYD1 and HYD3, respectively. This is one of the final updates that both phones are receiving. Not exactly the last one, but not far from it.

Both devices are eligible for 5 years of updates

Both devices are eligible of getting five years of updates, considering that the last two years are security updates. If Samsung ends up sticking to that strictly, both devices will reach the end of life in August this year. So, they still have to get a couple of monthly security updates.

Once they reach the end of life, upgrading to a newer smartphone is definitely recommended. Security updates are being pushed to smartphones for a good reason. Using phones without getting them is never recommended. So… there you go.

The April 2025 Android security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra in stages. If you didn’t get it already, chances are it’s coming very soon, so stay tuned.
