Google has been running intensely in the ongoing AI race when we put it next to other tech giants in that regard. Well, Google is at it again—this time not by integrating AI features into Android but by bringing them over to Chromebook Plus. If you have a Chromebook Plus, a slew of new AI features is coming for you, with two additional features exclusive to Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14.

The new AI features for Chromebook Plus also include its own version of Circle to Search

Google today announced a bunch of new features for the entire Chromebook Plus lineup, which, when available, will be integrated into Chrome OS. So, what are the new features? Let’s start with “Select to search with Lens” (aka Circle to Search on Android).

This feature allows you to identify information about anything that you see on your Chromebook Plus’ screen. You can trigger the Select to search feature by long-pressing the launcher or with the screenshot tool. Once you trigger it, all you have to do is select the object you want to get information about.

Besides Chromebook’s version of Circle to Search, there’s a new Text Capture feature. The feature pulls off text directly from the image, so you don’t have to type it out. Let’s say if you come across an image with a handwritten recipe, you can use this AI feature on your Chromebook Plus to pull off the text. Additionally, you can highlight an event and have it added to your Google Calendar.

Those who are willing to use AI for generating images can use the Quick Insert key. You can use it to insert photos and emojis into documents and presentations. Next, you have the Simplify button added to Google’s Help Me Read feature. Previously, you could only summarize the long text using this AI feature. With the help of the Simplify button, you can break down complex language so it is easier for you to understand.

Exclusives for Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14

Finally, Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14 is getting Smart Group and AI image editing in the Gallery app. The Smart Group feature organizes your tabs and documents into logical groups. On the other hand, you can use AI to edit images right from the new Chromebook Plus’ photo library.

Besides announcing AI features for Chromebooks, Google also unveiled the Luminar AI photo editing app. On top of that, Squid Game: Unleashed is now optimized for Chromebooks. Moreover, Google is offering a 12-month AI Pro plan for free with the purchase of Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14.
