We’ve been hearing about Samsung’s extended reality (XR) project for a long time. The company officially teased the “Project Moohan” headset in early 2025. Now, Samsung’s highly anticipated XR headset has officially appeared in the Geekbench database. This gives us some insights into what this device might bring to the table.

Samsung’s XR Headset pops up on Geekbench

Project Moohan’s benchmark results confirm that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip. This isn’t just any chip; the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 is designed specifically for high-performance XR applications. The Geekbench listing reveals that Project Moohan (model number SM-I610) is running on this powerful processor. The chip boasts six high-performance CPU cores and a capable Adreno 740 GPU. While some of the CPU cores might be based on slightly older designs, the Adreno 740 GPU is the same powerhouse found in many of today’s top-tier smartphones. So, it should offer excellent graphical capabilities for immersive experiences.

In terms of raw numbers, the headset posted a respectable single-core score of 990 and a multi-core score of 2,453 in Geekbench 6. This suggests solid performance for handling the demanding tasks of virtual and augmented reality. The listing also confirms that Project Moohan will come with a generous 16GB of RAM. Plus, it will run Android 14, which is expected to be the foundation for Google’s new Android XR OS, fully announced at Google I/O 2025.

Smart glasses also in development

Samsung is reportedly working closely with Google on several XR ventures. Project Moohan is just one piece of a larger puzzle that might include smart glasses in the future (codenamed Project Haean and Project Jinju). The Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip itself supports advanced features like low-latency full-color passthrough (for seeing your real environment), super-fast Wi-Fi 7, and VR-specific optimizations like foveated rendering.

There is still no specific launch date for Project Moohan. However, its appearance on Geekbench signals that development is well underway. We might even get more details at an upcoming Unpacked event.
