Developer Beat Games has announced it will be ending support for the PS4 and PS5 versions of its beloved VR game Beat Saber beginning this month, June 2025.

Beat Saber ending support on PS4 and PS5, and people are pretty upset

Beat Games announced its decision to no longer update the PS4 and PS5 versions of Beat Saber in a social media post. The studio iterates that this decision will not impact players’ ability to play Beat Saber or previously purchased DLC on any PlayStation platforms. Additionally, DLC released before June 18, 2025 will still be purchasable on the PS Store. Lastly, multiplayer will not be available starting January 21, 2026.

“As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025,” reads the statement. “Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”

Although Beat Games’ decision to end support doesn’t impact its playability on either PlayStation platform, users are demanding refunds and voicing their displeasure with the decision on social media. Here are some of the reactions responding to the original announcement on X:

When Beat Saber was released, it was met with outstanding reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 86 across 24 critic reviews. In our review, we gave the game a 9 out of 10.

“Simple, fun, and addictive, Beat Saber has a hook that will immediately grab players and keep them engaged for a long time,” reads the review. “Hopefully Beat Games continues to support the platform, adding to what I would consider an essential VR experience.”
