Since Beat Games announced it would be ending Beat Saber support for PSVR2, players have speculated that Sony is winding down support for the virtual reality headset. Just days later, the company revealed a handful of new games coming to its VR platform, most of which are coming this year.
Sony reveals new PSVR2 games after players’ concerns about the headset’s future
In a recent PS Blog post, Sony shared new looks at four upcoming PSVR2 games. It should be noted that only one of these games seems to be exclusive to Sony’s VR headset. Otherwise, these games will also be available to play with traditionally on the PS5. Here are the four games and their available platforms:
- Dreams of Another (PS5, PSVR2)
- Grit and Valor – 1949 (PS5, PSVR2)
- Hotel Infinity (PSVR2)
- Meteora (PS5, PSVR2)
Dreams of Another is the next entry in the PixelJunk series by Q-Games. Grit and Valor – 1949 is a real-time tactics roguelite by developer Milky Tea. Hotel Infinity is from the makers of the acclaimed game, Manifold Garden. Lastly, Meteora is a combat racer, and is the debut title from Big Boot Games.
As mentioned, this new update for the PSVR2 comes just a few days after Beat Games decided to stop supporting the PlayStation versions of Beat Saber, one of the platforms most popular games.
“As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025,” reads the statement from Beat Games. “Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”
While Beat Saber will still be playable on PSVR, the developer will no longer release DLC or updates for the game. Additionally, it will shut down its multiplayer at the beginning of 2026.
