As previously rumored, Microsoft announced Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced is coming to PS5 on August 12. The Deluxe Edition of the game comes with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice optimized for PS5. Players who already own the former PS4 exclusive can upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice gets free PS5 upgrade for PS4 owners

There are two editions of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced. The Standard Edition comes with the base game and costs $49.99. The Deluxe Edition costs $69.99 and includes the PS5 optimized version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and the soundtrack for the first entry.

There isn’t much information about the PS5 version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The description for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced on the PS Store states that the first entry will feature “enriched visuals” and will be “enhanced” for the console.

It is not disclosed how players will receive the free upgrade for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, but more often than not, it is simply an update for the game, allowing players to choose which version to download.

Players looking to play both games should just get the Deluxe Edition of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced. On the PS Store, the sequel is $49.99, and the first entry is $29.99, which means players would spend $79.98 a la carte. The Deluxe Edition costs $69.99, which will save players around $10.

When Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice originally released for the PS4 in 2017, it was met with favorable reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 81 across 68 critic reviews. In our review, we gave the game a 9 out of 10.

“At an asking price of $29.99 USD, the campaign is just long enough to feel like this is money well-spent,” reads our review. “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a stellar entry from Ninja Theory, and I can only hope this is the first of many “independent AAA” games to come from the veteran studio.”
