Amazon’s drone delivery now brings iPhones and Galaxy phones to your door in under an hour

Amazon drone delivery phones are now a reality—at least if you’re lucky enough to live in the right zip code. The company has expanded its Prime Air drone program, letting you order everything from iPhones to Galaxy devices and have them dropped off at your home in under an hour.

This isn’t just about a handful of gadgets. Amazon says more than 60,000 items are now eligible for drone delivery in the US, including Apple’s AirPods, Ring Doorbells, and even Alpha Grillers thermometers. The new service covers select locations in Texas and Arizona, using the MK30 drone, which can get your order from checkout to doorstep in 60 minutes or less.

Ordering is pretty simple if you’re in an eligible area. Just pick your item (as long as it weighs under 5 pounds), select drone delivery at checkout, and set a drop spot—think driveway or yard. You only need to set your spot once, so future orders are even quicker. Amazon’s system then calculates the flight path and gives you an almost exact delivery time. The drone checks for pets, cars, or people before making the drop, and won’t even attempt delivery if the weather’s bad.

Amazon says this all comes after two years of mapping and testing, but it’s still limited to select areas for now. Still, the fact that Amazon drone delivery phones are already happening is kind of wild. The era of waiting days for a new phone might really be over—at least, if you live in the right place.
