RefreshOS 1.23 Reaches End of Life
As of today, RefreshOS 1.23 has officially reached its end of support. Originally built on Kubuntu 22.04 LTS, RefreshOS 1.23 was the final version of the operating system to use a *buntu-based core. With Kubuntu itself reaching the end of its support lifecycle, it’s time for RefreshOS 1.23 to follow suit. Released as a clean, user-friendly system packed with powerful tools like LibreOffice, GIMP, and Chromium, version 1.23 delivered a modern KDE Plasma desktop experience with seamless cell phone integration and a familiar interface that many users came to love. It marked an important chapter in the history of RefreshOS, but also set the stage for bigger changes. Since then, RefreshOS has transitioned to Debian Stable as its foundation—beginning with version 2.0 Boundless Beagle and continuing with the latest release, RefreshOS 2.25. These newer versions build upon the user-first principles of 1.23 while delivering greater stability, security, and long-term reliability. With full Qt integration, no Snap or Flatpak bloat, and a focus on clean performance, the new Debian-based core ensures that RefreshOS continues evolving in the right direction.
