Summary: MetroPCS will not be selling the Google Pixel 9a. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use the Pixel 9a on the MetroPCS network. You can still buy it unlocked from various retailers.

The Google Pixel 9a is now available from many retailers and carriers around the US. However, when it comes to MetroPCS, that is not the case. The Google Pixel 9a is not sold by MetroPCS. This should not be a surprise, considering MetroPCS does not sell any other Google devices; in fact, they are not even listed in the “Brand” Filter on their website.

However, that doesn’t mean you need to switch carriers to use the Pixel 9a. You can still buy an unlocked Google Pixel 9a from the Google Store, Best Buy or Amazon and pop in your SIM card. And that’s it. Making it super easy.

Google’s Pixel 9a is a pretty incredible sub-$500 smartphone

While many of us reviewers are comparing the Pixel 9a to the Pixel 9 and other flagship phones, when you compare it to other phones under $500, it’s a pretty good value. Google has outfitted the Pixel 9a with a 6.3-inch display, the Tensor G4 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage (or 256GB). There is also a large 5,100 mAh capacity battery powering this phone. Which is the largest ever in a Pixel device. Google says that it will last for 30 hours, versus the 24 hours quoted on every other Pixel ever released.

On the camera front, Google has included a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide. That’s a sort of downgrade for the camera – really more like a sidegrade. It’s a smaller sensor, but we do expect the performance to be similar to the 64-megapixel sensor from the Pixel 8a.

And we can’t forget, the Pixel 9a will get 7 years of updates as well.
