Samsung’s Galaxy Ring update is here, and it’s packing new features that make the company’s first smart ring even more useful for health and sleep tracking. The latest firmware, version Q50XWWU2AYD1, just started rolling out in South Korea, with a wider release expected soon.

The Galaxy Ring update ties in with the Samsung Health platform, where all your fitness and health data gets processed.

The big highlight is a more accurate energy score—Samsung Health’s way of giving you an easy-to-understand summary of your overall fitness and recovery. This Galaxy Ring update introduces a new activity regulatory feature, letting you precisely adjust and log the amount of physical activity you do throughout the day. Since your energy score is based on a bunch of metrics—sleep, heart rate, workouts, and daily movement—this extra precision means the feedback you get from Samsung Health will be way more useful.

The Galaxy Ring update doesn’t stop there. Samsung is also rolling out a new sleep feature that works with SmartThings, the company’s smart home platform. This means your ring can now talk to compatible devices in your home, like smart thermostats, lights, or speakers, and tweak your environment to help you sleep better. Picture your bedroom cooling down automatically or your lights dimming once the Galaxy Ring senses you’re drifting off.

Samsung Health’s latest version (6.29.5 or later) is required to unlock these new features, so make sure you’re up to date. The AI inside Samsung Health will also use all this fresh data to suggest actionable tips, like taking it easy after a hard workout, or reminding you to get more rest if your sleep was rough.

Right now, the update is only in South Korea, but all signs point to a global rollout soon.
