MediaTek’s New Dimensity 9400e Arrives Soon

The battle for smartphone power continues—Taiwanese silicon giant MediaTek recently expanded its flagship mobile chip lineup with the launch of the Dimensity 9400e, which is set to arrive in new smartphones as early as this month.

The Dimensity 9400e is built using TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process and features a powerful configuration of four high-performance Cortex-X4 super cores clocked up to 3.4GHz, alongside four Cortex-A720 big cores running at 2.0GHz. Graphics processing is handled by a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU, which includes hardware-level support for ray tracing technology.

The Dimensity 9400e also features MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology with MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT 2.0). MediaTek says that this enables real-time performance scheduling between the chipset and gaming applications, and should deliver more stable frame rates during gameplay. There’s also a built-in Frame Rate Converter (MFRC 2.0+) feature which the company says reduces power consumption by up to 40% when active.

The new chip also supports MediaTek’s NeuroPilot SDK, alongside enhanced inference decoding technology (SpD+), and support for several large and small language models, including on-device operation of models like DeepSeek-R1-Distill, Qwen1.5B/Llama7B/Llama8B, as well as Gemini Nano with Multimodality and LLaVA-1.5 7B.

For connectivity, the Dimensity 9400e supports Bluetooth with a maximum range of up to 5 kilometers between compatible devices, support for sub-6GHz four-carrier aggregation (4CC-CA), and Wi-Fi 7 tri-band concurrency (5 data streams), as well as MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave 3.0 power-saving technology and multi-mode dual-SIM dual-active functionality.

Finally, the chipset also features an 18-bit RAW ISP for still photography, with support for AI semantic segmentation engines for video capture. MediaTek says that we’ll be able to see the 9400e in action starting this month.
