The Nvidia MediaTek laptop chip rumors are heating up—and Qualcomm might want to watch its back.

Snapdragon X has been riding high lately, earning praise and even giving Intel something to sweat over. But now there’s word that Nvidia and MediaTek could be preparing their own strike. According to fresh whispers, the two companies are ready to unveil a laptop-friendly Arm processor during Computex in Taipei, which kicks off May 20.

It’s not a total surprise. Nvidia has been circling this space for years. Back in January at CES, the company teased “Project Digits” with MediaTek—a so-called personal AI supercomputer. It didn’t take long for Nvidia to rebrand it as DGX Spark, a powerful system, but far too massive for your average laptop.

That’s where these rumored new chips come in. Called the N1 and N1X, they’re reportedly designed for laptops and meant to go toe-to-toe with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X lineup. The goal? Regular users, not AI researchers. Everyday laptops, not data centers.

If the leaks are accurate, this could be the biggest shake-up in Arm-based PC chips we’ve seen since Apple’s M1. Qualcomm won’t be the only player in the Arm laptop game anymore. Let’s see what happens when Computex opens next week.
