Samsung’s FE phone series, otherwise known as the Fan Edition series, is all about Samsung “listening to its fans” (its consumers) and taking their feedback to produce a device that’s packed with all their favorite features, and it seems Samsung is finally listening when it comes to the selfie camera, because it’s getting an upgrade with the Galaxy S25 FE.

At least, that’s what a recent report is saying. Right now, Samsung hasn’t officially stated anything about the upcoming FE device. However, Samsung has released a Fan Edition model of its popular Galaxy S flagship phones since the FE model’s introduction in 2020. So, there’s no reason to suspect it won’t be making an FE phone this year. It’s also worth noting that the selfie camera on the FE phones is due for an upgrade.

The Galaxy S25 FE will come with a 12MP sensor for the selfie camera

While this isn’t a big jump, any upgrade is still an upgrade. Going from a 10MP camera sensor on the front to a 12MP sensor may not seem like much, but it could be a bigger upgrade than you think. It really all depends on the type of 12MP sensor Samsung is using. Not to mention, it’s impossible to tell how much better the sensor is right now. And it’ll stay that way until it’s properly tested and compared to the older devices.

That being said, there likely isn’t going to be a huge difference between a 10MP sensor and a 12MP sensor. Specifically because only two years apart. That is, unless Samsung was using a really old sensor in the last few phones. Still, users can probably expect slightly cleaner images. Maybe with a little more detail when using the front camera on the Galaxy S25 FE if it has indeed been upgraded.

The rear camera will be unchanged

With the selfie camera being upgraded, you might think the rear camera would be upgraded as well. That doesn’t seem to be the case, though. According to the report, which comes from Galaxy Club (via SamMobile) the rear camera won’t be upgraded. Instead, Samsung will be sticking with a 50MP sensor. It’s not clear if it’s the same 50MP sensor as the one inside the Galaxy S24 FE. However, it is a 50MP sensor. At the very least, the images shouldn’t be worse.
