ReSharper is now available as an extension for Visual Studio Code.
Whether VS Code is your primary editor or a companion tool to JetBrains Rider or Visual Studio, ReSharper’s productivity features will elevate your development experience. Now you can enjoy the same powerful code analysis, Rename refactoring, and intuitive Solution Explorer that millions of developers trust – all within VS Code’s streamlined interface.
What ReSharper for VS Code offers

Public preview
ReSharper for Visual Studio Code is currently available as part of a public preview. During this stage, the extension is free to use. Each build is limited to 30 days.
Once the preview ends, ReSharper for VS Code will become available as part of the dotUltimate subscription. You can review the pricing options for dotUltimate here. There will also be a free tier for non-commercial usage.
Getting started is easy
Once you install the ReSharper for Visual Studio Code extension from the Microsoft Visual Studio Marketplace, just open your workspace as usual.
ReSharper will automatically scan for solution files (.sln / .slnx) in your workspace:
- If it finds one solution, it will open it for you automatically.
- If it finds more than one, you’ll see an Open Solution button – just click it to choose the solution you want to work with.
From there, ReSharper gets to work indexing your code and enabling its productivity tools right away.
Compatibility notice
ReSharper for Visual Studio Code is not compatible with the Microsoft C# and C# Dev Kit extensions. To ensure smooth operation, make sure both are disabled before using ReSharper.
