Amazon India launches Elevate Program to boost influencer-led sales

Amazon India has launched the Elevate Program to boost the performance of a few hundred creators as a part of the Amazon Influencer Program, offering them a chance to upskill, bring in more sales and spur its creator economy.

With dedicated account managers, early access to brand deals, and better payouts, Amazon is going big on boosting its top-performing influencers as it renews its focus on the content-to-commerce loop.

Through the Elevate Program, eligible creators on Amazon.in will receive benefits such as premium account support, higher commission opportunities, access to brand collaborations, and the chance to feature on Amazon LIVE.

Top-performing creators out of its 60,000-strong influencer network will receive performance-based incentives, up to a 3-5X increase in and use of Amazon’s production studios.

"The reason creator economy and creator marketing are gaining momentum is because younger users, especially Gen Z and younger, are consuming more content online through creators rather than traditional media like TV. A large share of users are shifting attention online. When media consumption shifts, ad dollars follow. In that sense, the way we can ‘afford’ it is because it is simply a more efficient media channel for brands," Zahid Khan, Director of Shopping Initiatives for India and Emerging Markets at Amazon, told YourStory.

This development is part of Amazon's growing focus on its creator-led economy. In November last year, it launched Creator Central to make it easier for creators to produce and publish content on Amazon. Prior to this, it launched Amazon Live in 2022, a live shopping experience.

Amazon is not the only one looking to tap into the overall creator economy to drive sales. Earlier this year, affordable ecommerce platform Meesho launched a 'creator marketplace platform' to double down on its influencer-driven content. The move aims to offer a personalised and aspirational shopping experience on the website.
