Garmin has expanded its range of Forerunner smartwatches by launching the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970. The new smartwatches offer new-to-the-Forerunner-line features like a speaker and a microphone, which allow you to take calls during exercises without touching your smartphones. In addition, the company has also introduced the new Garmin HRM 600 heart rate monitor.
Garmin’s Forerunner 570 features a bright AMOLED display and up to 11 days of battery life
The Garmin Forerunner 570 has a greater emphasis on triathletes with a new Garmin Coach option and custom multisport workouts in the Connect app. It comes in two sizes – 42mm with a 1.2-inch display and 47mm with a 1.4-inch screen. The wearable features an aluminium bezel, similar to the Vivoactive 6. Garmin says that the Forerunner 570 features the brightest AMOLED display on any of its smartwatches.
Thanks to the built-in mic and speaker, the Forerunner 570 supports Bluetooth calling and lets you command your phone’s Gemini or Siri assistants on the go. The Forerunner 570 boasts a battery life of 11 days with regular usage, making it the shortest among the last several generations of Forerunners.
The Forerunner 970 sports advanced health metrics
As for the Garmin Forerunner 970, it also has the brightest AMOLED display found on the Forerunner 570. However, this one comes in a single 47mm size with a 1.4-inch circular screen. The wearable packs in all the features of the Forerunner 570, with additions like the LED light found on the Epix Pro and Instinct 3 watches.
Furthermore, the Forerunner 970 has new metrics including Running Economy, Step Speed Loss, and Running Tolerance. These metrics tell you about your body’s limits and recommend a weekly mileage. The device also offers ECG functionality, a Sapphire crystal protection on the screen, and up to 15 days of battery life in the smartwatch mode.
Coming to the pricing, Garmin has priced the Forerunner 570 at $549.99 for both the 42mm and 47mm size variants. The Forerunner 970 will set you back by $749.99. Both will be available to order in the US on May 21st.
Alongside the Garmin Forerunner 570 and 970, the company has launched the HRM 600 heart rate monitor. It is compatible with both the new smartwatches to enable their expanded running dynamics measurements. It will be available to buy for $169.99.
