ONDC appoints Vibhor Jain as acting CEO after T Koshy completed tenure

Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has appointed Vibhor Jain as acting CEO with immediate effect.

The government-backed ecommerce network continues to be in search of a permanent chief executive.

Thampy Koshy, who stepped down on April 10 after his three-year tenure as MD and chief executive, handed over his responsibilities to an executive committee available to the board till June. Jain was also a part of this executive committee.

"The Executive Committee has done a commendable job of guiding ONDC during a critical phase of its journey. However, with several key strategic decisions underway, it is imperative to have a single point of leadership to drive cohesive execution. Vibhor has played a pivotal role in shaping ONDC’s operational framework, and the Board has full confidence in his ability to lead the organisation during this important transition," noted Suresh Sethi, Board Member, ONDC in a statement.

Prior to Koshy, ONDC's chief business officer and president of network expansion, Shireesh Joshi, departed from the network to attend to personal matters.

The Open Network for Digital Commerce connects sellers and buyer apps across sectors like mobility, food delivery, logistics, ecommerce, and apparel. The network crossed 200 million transactions on its network in March, almost 30 months after it initiated its operations.
