Marvel Rivals next season release date and Season 2 end date

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is just days away, meaning you'll be able to jump into the next season of Marvel Rivals, and try out the new Hero soon. There's a ton of changes coming to the game in the next few months, including a shift in how Team Ups work, and an overhaul of the effectiveness of certain Vanguards. If things pan out, the meta should shift significantly, hopefully moving towards a more balanced experience.

Marvel Rivals' latest patch notes added the ability to switch out your Hero's voice when equipping certain skins. NetEase also just detailed what's set to be changing in Season 2.5, which I'll cover in this article. Ultron will arrive very soon indeed, and he looks set to be a completely new kind of Strategist, relying on group healing, and being able to fly above the ground.

In my Marvel Rivals review, I praised the game's huge suite of Heroes, and the surprising amount of depth found when trying out each one. With Season 2.5, there's set to be another Hero added, as Ultron joins as a new Strategist. Since its launch, Marvel Rivals has changed quite a bit, adding smart changes to Competitive Mode while giving players something to work toward. It's consistent updates like this that make Marvel Rivals a worthy inclusion in our best PC Games of 2025 list.

Here's everything you need to know about the next season of Marvel Rivals, including when the current one ends, and what to expect from the new Heroes that are being added. As release day draws nearer, I'll update this page with all of the latest news and info.

When is the next season of Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 will launch May 30 at 5AM EDT / 2AM PDT / 10AM BST. At this time, servers will go down for "2-3 hours", before the new season is available to all players. As such, I estimate Season 2.5 to be playable at the following times:

  • May 30 at 5AM PT: West Coast US
  • May 30 at 8AM ET: East Coast US
  • May 30 at 1PM BST: United Kingdom
  • May 30 at 2PM CET: Central Europe
  • May 30 at 9PM JST: Japan

The times above are based on the Tweet linked here, which gives an estimated downtime of 2-3 hours. Given that we now know when the game will go down for maintenance, I've approximated when it'll be back up. This could differ on the day, depending on how the maintenance period goes.

Marvel Rivals Ultron release date

Emma Frost and Ultron

Ultron comes to Marvel Rivals on May 30, 2025 as part of Season 2.5. So far, we know he's a flying Strategist that uses laser beams to deal decent damage at range. He can also shield teammates, and attach drones to do healing over time. He's unique as a Strategist in that he can fly, hopefully countering dive characters like Iron Fist and Captain America. He can boost up into the air, and in the trailer below can be seen using this ability to escape Wolverine.

Ultron joins Luna Snow, Rocket, Adam Warlock, Mantis, Invisible Woman, and Jeff the Land Shark in the Strategist class. He has plenty of healing power, but also looks to focus on DPS at range, and shielding. I'll bet this will seriously hinder dive characters pushing backline, so could see a shift back to a more frontline-focused meta for Marvel Rivals. Ultron's Ultimate summons Ultron bots to power him up, as he fires large blasts that simultaneously heal allies, and damage enemies.

We'll have to wait and see how Ultron fits into the ongoing meta, and where he'll ultimately rank in my Marvel Rivals Tier List. So far, Strategists are all ranked quite highly, though Ultron looks to be a very different beast.
